John Ash from Christchurch, New Zealand Bernese Mountain Dog Reddit introduced the dog, named Deog, and his new cat friend, a rescue cat named Sheet, who was grieving the loss of his best friend, a Siamese cat named Mao. After his owner rescued Sheet from a local abandoned cat community, his dog found solace in her.

In a video shared by Ash on Reddit, he walks into his bedroom to find Deog and Sheet cuddled on the bed, with Deog resting his face on the sheet. The video has garnered over 25,000 upvotes, with Reddit users eager to learn more about the new duo.

In an interview NewsweekAsh shared the sad story of how he lost Mao, and also the cause of his and Deog’s death. “Deog grew up with a Siamese cat and the two were inseparable,” Ash said. The owner went on to reveal that Mao was killed in a car accident. Eventually, Deog and Sheet “decided to adopt each other,” Ash said.

Meanwhile, Ash spoke about the bond between Deog and Sheet, revealing that the two were “instantly attracted to each other.” Sheet was scared of everything, but felt safe with Deog.

Recounting how their family ended up adopting Sheet, the owner continued, “Deog is lonely and treats Sheet just like Mao. We found ourselves in this situation the other night when we couldn’t find either animal. We knew we wouldn’t be able to bring Sheet back into our home so we signed the adoption papers that night.”

Meanwhile, Sheets came from a colony of cats that lived in a building that was damaged in the earthquake. The family fostered the cat through a no-kill organization, according to Newsweek. Ash has his own YouTube channel, “Deog and Co,” where he shares the daily life of his pets.
