Two kittens abandoned in one day in Norfolk

The RSPCA is appealing for information after two kittens were found abandoned a short drive away in Norfolk.

The first of five kittens, about three weeks old, was found inside a black and green box on the side of the road on Station Road in Tellington St Clement. On Sunday, September 20, the second of three very young kittens, probably only a few days old, was found in bushes on Mill Road in Shotham Thorpe, about a 20-minute drive away.

Sadly, the second kitten was in very poor condition and the younger cats were suffering from severe fly strikes. One kitten died shortly after being admitted to the vet on September 22nd, and the other two were sadly put to sleep by the vet due to their critical condition.

RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Bethany Allerton, who is currently investigating, said: “These young kittens had no mother or anyone to look after and were sadly abandoned. Thankfully, the first The puppies have been hand-raised by a local rescue charity and appear to be doing well. However, the second set of kittens were in very poor health and heartbreakingly did not survive.

“It is unclear whether these two incidents are related, but it is unusual for so many kittens to be abandoned in the same area on the same day.

“If anyone has any information about this matter, please contact the RSPCA Inspectorate’s appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
