A stray cat came to a property asking to be let in. A few days later, the cat gave birth to a kitten and the owner started raising five more kittens.

About three months ago, a beautiful calico cat showed up outside our home looking to end her life on the streets.
She was from a small neighborhood cat colony, a young cat but very pregnant, and looked at her finder with a scheming look in her eyes, then sat down heavily on the ground and rolled back and forth trying to get attention.
This calico cat needed a safe place to hide and a reliable source of food, and it seemed like he knew exactly where to go for help.

When the cat rescue group Stray Cat Club found out about the pregnant cat, they didn’t hesitate to take her in.
A foster family adopted Ruby the cat and gave her a comfortable room to settle in. After exploring her new space, Ruby lay contentedly in her new bed, full and with satisfied eyes.

A few days later, Ruby began to get her bedding in order as it was time for her to give birth. She gave birth to her kittens in the comfort of a loving home, away from the city and the elements.
Ruby stayed with the kittens the whole time, caring for them, feeding them, keeping them clean and loving them.

About a week later, a fellow rescue group, Foal Farm Animal Rescue Center, asked Stray Cat Club if there was a mother fostering kittens they could lend a hand: They were hand-raising five newborn kittens who needed a mother’s love.
They immediately remembered Ruby and her kittens, who were close to their age.

After proper introductions, Ruby quickly bonded with the new cats and began caring for them as if they were her own kittens. Ruby cleaned them, nursed them alongside the kittens, and pampered them with love and purrs.
Feeding seven hungry mouths was incredibly hard, but Ruby didn’t do it alone.

Ruby worked closely with her foster parents as they fed the new babies, and once the younger ones had finished their bottles, Ruby took over, washing their faces and bathing them from head to toe.
“It’s a team effort and it’s been great watching them grow together,” Stray Cat Club said.
To help Ruby eat, her foster parents also supplemented the meals of young children.Stray Cat Club
Topaz, Opal, Onyx, Emerald, Jade, Pearl and Diamond – all named after precious gemstones – have grown by leaps and bounds. Their sense of adventure has emerged as they become more confident on their legs, curious about their surroundings and ready to take their first steps outside the nest.
Ruby kept a close eye on the children to make sure they didn’t wander too far.

Once the kittens were able to feed themselves, mommy Ruby began spending more time doing what she loves, like playing with toys and letting her inner kitty out.
Though the kittens were from different mothers, they formed a beautiful blended family, with uncontrollable energy that would run around the room and nestle in their owner’s laps when they needed a pick-me-up.

Thanks to a foster home, a loving mother and kind people, these kittens have grown into happy, healthy young cats.
They enjoy snuggling with their owners and siblings, purring like little rockets preparing for takeoff. “These little loves certainly have the power to melt a person’s heart.”

Ruby arrived on the property that fateful day hoping for a new start, and she fostered her last kitten, and has since rescued five more.
She’s back to being the happy, playful cat she always dreamed of, pouncing around and chasing toys.
